Crosby Studios has teamed up with Opening Ceremony to create a limited-edition home and apparel collection launching at Opening Ceremony’s Howard Street flagship store on May 15.

Heavily influenced by Milanese luminaries from the Radical Design movement, Nuriev’s ultraviolet collection elevates its own functionality through Surrealist abstraction. Known for his ability to create objects that break free from gravity, Nuriev has designed a new edition of his signature Libraries, a series of freestanding cage-like shelves that resemble a weightless cloister of elongated temples.

Inspired by a plastic replica of Pedro Friedeberg’s iconic hand chair, this limited-edition collection with Opening Ceremony deepens Nuriev’s practice of radically disrupting historical designs, creating a playful interpretation of Serge Mouille’s classic spider lamps with leaf-like lampshades in the form of hands. This collection also marks Nuriev’s first foray into ceramics and clothing design, both micro-collections unified through the application of expressive pastel brushstrokes.
